Arms Management and Destruction in Rwanda

Activity description

MAG worked in Rwanda from 2008 to 2011, supporting the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) in the destruction – and improved management – of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) and munitions, in order to improve the country’s security and stability. Technical assistance was given to the RDF in the safe destruction of surplus weapons, ordnance and small arms ammunition, as well as stockpile management. More than 31,000 items of SALW and over 77 tons of surplus munitions were destroyed during the period of MAG’s operations in the country.
