PGA-APP hold Roundtable to Discuss the Arms Trade Treaty Negotiations

Activity description

The objective of this two-day roundtable, jointly organized by Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) and the Association for Public Policy (APP), was to create a space for dialogue and to foment sub regional consensus prior to the negotiations conference of the Arms Trade Treaty. The roundtable also looked to clarify national positions, the role parliamentarians ought to play, implementation and national ownership and accountability.

Project description

Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) Peace and Democracy Programme focuses in marshalling global parliamentary support for improved regulation of the international arms trade, in particular where its inadequacies play a demonstrated role in destabilizing countries, causing or fuelling conflict and/or delay the emergence of countries from conflict. The PGA Global Parliamentary Campaign for Universality and Implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty is actively promoting signature and/or ratification of the ATT within their Parliaments and in close contact with their respective Governments.
