Inter-parliamentary Conference to Enhance the implementation of the ATT and the UNPoA on Illicit SALW by South-South Parliamentary Exchange and Cooperation in Lisbon
Parliamentarians from 9 countries in Africa, Europe and South Asia participated in the conference, 'Inter-parliamentary Conference to Enhance the implementation of the ATT and the UNPoA on Illicit SALW by South-South Parliamentary Exchange and Cooperation', held at and in cooperation with the National Assembly of the Republic of Portugal. The particular focus of the Conference was Portuguese speaking states. It also aimed to provide a forum for exchanges of experiences between those countries and Small Island States. At the end of the conference the 'Lisbon Declaration' was adopted.
The project 'Enhance ATT and UNPoA Implementation by South-South Parliamentary Exchange and Cooperation' provides support for the ratification of the ATT by organizing inter-regional exchanges for legislators from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. The project is funded by the UN Trust Facility Supporting Cooperation on Arms Regulation (UNSCAR) a multi-donor funding mechanism designed to fund projects aimed at supporting the implementation of the ATT and the UNPoA.
