Activity description

Through the project 'Supporting implementation of ECOWAS SALW Convention Article 10', ECOWAS, with the financial support of UNSCAR, worked to support the effective implementation of the ECOWAS Convention. In particular the project aimed to support the implementation of Article 10 of the Convention with the creation of an Arms Transfer Database. The database aimed to 1) track all Small Arms and Light Weapons and Ammunition transfers in and out of ECOWAS countries; 2) detect points of diversion with the goal of enabling the ECOWAS Commission to transfer reports to the sub-regional National Authorities for a prompt intervention; 3) improve decision-making processes at sub-regional levels.
