Activity description

The Fifth Meeting of the Informal Export Group on ATT Implementation (EGAI) discussed the following items: reflections on ATT CSP1 and priorities for ATT CSP2; progress towards implementation of the ATT at the national level; elements of an effective transfer control system for less capacitated states; and implementation of ATT article 14 (enforcement). There were also three presentations to the plenary, which related to the institutional aspects of ATT implementation such as a discussion of government agencies responsibilities and roles in arms export control and interagency co-operation.

Project description

The informal Expert Group on ATT Implementation (EGAI) establishes an informal dialogue process among key diplomats, national policy practitioners and experts in order to share experiences on ATT ratification and implementation. In doing so, the aim is to promote clear understandings about how to maximise the operational effectiveness of the Treaty, and facilitate consistent and robust implementation. The inaugural meeting the Expert Group was organized by Saferworld in November 2013. of the informal Expert Group on ATT Implementation (EGAI).
