Activity description

This regional consultative seminar formed part of the UNDIR-led project 'Tackling Diversion (Phase II): Promoting Regional Dialogue to Enhance Common Understanding and Cooperation to Strengthen End Use/r Control Systems'. It aimed to facilitate shared understanding among Asian States in order to identify possible approaches to enhancing cooperation and strengthening end use/r control systems. The seminar brought together representatives from national arms transfer control authorities, ministries of foreign affairs and trade, as well as specialized organizations. It provided a platform to facilitate an inclusive global dialogue which seeks to identify possible options and avenues within and beyond existing global and regional instruments to strengthen end use/r control systems and, in doing so, to more effectively address the diversion of arms.
