Activity description

In cooperation with the Benin Action Network on Small Arms (RASALEB), the Parliamentary Forum on SALW organised a seminar on the ATT for legislators and journalists in Benin. The majority of participants became members of the Forum and the Forum will continue to work with them in order to support the legislators to promote a speedy ratification of the Treaty. Benin is one of the focus countries included for national activities under the project to 'Enhance ATT and UNPoA Implementation by South-South Parliamentary Exchange and Cooperation.'

Project description

The project 'Enhance ATT and UNPoA Implementation by South-South Parliamentary Exchange and Cooperation' provides support for the ratification of the ATT by organizing inter-regional exchanges for legislators from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. The project is funded by the UN Trust Facility Supporting Cooperation on Arms Regulation (UNSCAR) a multi-donor funding mechanism designed to fund projects aimed at supporting the implementation of the ATT and the UNPoA.
