Small Arms Survey Workshop to build capacity to establish and maintain Zambia's ATT national control list
From 6 to 8 November 2019, the Small Arms Survey, with funding from the ATT Voluntary Trust Fund (ATT VTF), designed and delivered a "workshop to build capacity to establish and maintain Zambia's national control list," which took place in Lusaka. The workshop brought together relevant stakeholders for drafting Zambia's national control list.
The national control list had been identified during the implementation of the EU ATT OP roadmap as a key "missing" element of the Republic of Zambia’s regulatory framework for effectively implementing the ATT. As a result of the workshop, a national control list was drafted and submitted to the government for adoption. Furthermore, the workshop aimed at strengthening the awareness of relevant stakeholders regarding their responsibilities and options for establishing and maintaining a national control list to fulfil obligations in accordance with Article 5 of the ATT.
The Republic of Zambia shared it experience of preparing a national control list via an intervention and a lessons learnt-report during the first preparatory committee meeting for ATT CSP6.
The project 'Building capacity to establish and maintain Zambia's national control list' was implemented by Zambia and the Small Arms Survey with funding from the ATT Voluntary Trust Fund (ATT VTF). It aimed to provide capacity building and technical knowledge to enable Zambia to adopt a national control list in fulfilment of Article 5 of the ATT.
