The workshop on the development of an AU disarmament, demobilization and reintegration (DDR) compendium and DDR training manual was organized by the the AU Commission (AUC) in collaboration with the UN, the World Bank and international DDR experts. The workshop aimed to solicit guidance, inputs, and contributions on the development of a compendium of DDR experiences in Africa, AU DDR standards and a training manual. Workshop participants recommended that the process of Compendium development should involve a two-phased approach: Phase one should contain a Desk Review, and Phase two will involve the elaboration of case studies. In terms of the development process of the Training Standards/Manual, participants recommended that a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) should be conducted.The workshop was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
