Organized by the Nigerian Presidential Committee on SALW, the forum created a platform for dialogue between stakeholders to share strategies on combating SALW proliferation. Focusing on the security situation in Nigeria, the forum aimed to provide and develop the skills and expertise of Nigerian stakeholders in strategies to hinder the proliferation of SALW. Participants who attended this forum included more than two hundred representatives from Nigerian authorities, defence and security forces, civil society organizations, academics, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and other organizations such as Small Arms Survey, the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), the West African Action Network on Small Arms (WAANSA) and UNREC. The workshop was held in Abuja.
