On 9-10 April 2019, in the framework of the European Union's P2P ATT Outreach Project, Expertise France organized an ad-hoc cooperation Activity in Mali. 
Mali was one of the first African countries to ratify the Arms Trade Treaty, even before its entry into force. The Government is therefore engaged in actions to modernise its national control system of arms transfers, drawing on international best practice in this area. It aims in particular to adapt its legal framework in order to better respond to the challenges posed by the proliferation of all weapons and chose to do so by partnering with the European Union Program ATT Outreach Program (EU ATT OP), implemented by Expertise France and BAFA (Germany).The event aimed to sensitise national parliamentarians about these challenges and about the provisions of the ATT. As such, a discussion was organised with the deputies of the National Assembly and experts with the objective to define guidelines for possible amendments to be made to the national legal framework.
