1st EXTRA-ORDINARY MEETING OF THE AU-REGIONS STANDING COMMITTEE ON SMALL ARMS AND LIGHT WEAPONS (SALW) AND DISARMAMENT, DEMOBILIZATION AND REINTEGRATION (DDR)
As part of the joint project between the African Union Commission and the BICC and with financial support from Germany, the African Union and BICC organized the 1st extraordinary meeting of the AU-regions standing committee on SALW and DDR to define a joint position on the United Nations Programme of Action and the International Tracing Instrument prior to the 7th Biannual Meeting of States parties to the UN Programme of Action on SALW.
The AU-BICC project on Arms Control in Africa is implemented by the African Union Commission in cooperation with BICC and with funding from Germany. The project started in April 2021 and aims at continuing providing support to the African union its Regional Economic Communities, Regional Bodies and Member States to coordinate and implement arms control measures on a strategical, technical and policy level.
