CARICOM and UNIDIR Deliver Regional Training of Trainers Workshop on the International Small Arms Control Standards (ISACS) and Assessment Tools in Trinidad and Tobago
The purpose of this workshop, a joint initiative of CARICOM IMPACS and UNIDIR in partnership with the ISACS Inter-Agency Support Unit, was to strengthen institutional capacity in the region by training delegates on the use of the International Small Arms Control Standards and its Assessment Tool. The ISACS Assessment Tool is a software that facilitates the application of the International Small Arms Control Standards in the design, monitoring and evaluation of small arms control policies, programmes and practices. The capacity-building workshop assisted in developing the proficiency of a cadre of professionals in the region in using the International Small Arms Control Standards (ISACS) and its Assessment Tool. This Assessment Tool, developed by the UN Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), provides clear, practical and comprehensive guidelines to practitioners and policymakers on fundamental aspects of firearms control based on international arms control standards.
The Regional Training-of-Trainers Workshop Programme aims to strengthen national and regional capacities to facilitate the application of the International Arms Control Standards (ISACS).
