Activity description

During Fiscal Year 2012 the Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement in the US State Department's Bureau of Political-Military Affairs (PM/WRA) provided $750,000 provided to the Mine Advisory Group (MAG) to carry out conventional weapons destruction programs in the DRC. The grant to MAG along with prior support allowed for the destruction of more than 132,000 SALW, approximately 850 tons of munitions, 245 anti-tank mines, 2007 anti-personnel mines, and 12 man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS). It also helped to improve the DRC's physical security and stockpile management (PSSM) and supported the DRC's capacity to mark and trace all state-owned weapons.
