RECSA Small Arms Training in South Sudan
Under the funding of the African Development bank the Regional Center on Small Arms (RECSA) conducted a training at the Community Security and Small Arms Control (CSAC) office in Juba, South Sudan. The training focused on the configuration of a new installed server and software as well as a training for participants on how to use and navigate the new software. After the training, electronic record keeping equipment was handed over to the South Sudan Bureau for Community Security and Small Arms Control (BCSSAC).
The goal of the African Development Bank Technical Assistance and Capacity Building to RECSA (AfDB TCB-RECSA) project is to strengthen the institutional capacity of RECSA and Member States to prevent and combat the proliferation of small arms and light weapons. The project has three main components: 1.Institutional strengthening and human capacity building for RECSA; 2. Operationalization of the Nairobi Protocol in selected fragile and non-fragile situations; and, 3.Project management. The aim of the project collaboration between AfDB and RECSA is to create a better understanding of the security-development nexus in Africa. The TCB-RECSA project is funded from the Transition Support Facility (TSF) managed by Bank’s Transition Support Department (ORTS).
