RECSA Executive Secretary Visit to Djibouti
In the framework of enhancing member state participation in the organization activities, RECSA Executive Secretary visited the Republic of Djibouti to discuss with Government Officials progress in implementing the Nairobi Protocol in the country as well as ways of enhancing the role of Djibouti in small arms control in the Horn of Africa. Discussions focused on the participation of Djibouti to RECSA programmes and activities, arms marking, harmonization of national legislation with the Nairobi Protocol, and the ratification of the ATT among others.
The goal of the 'African Development Bank Technical Assistance and Capacity Building to RECSA' (AfDB TCB-RECSA) project is to strengthen the institutional capacity of RECSA and Member States to prevent and combat the proliferation of small arms and light weapons. The project has three main components: 1.Institutional strengthening and human capacity building for RECSA; 2.Operationalization of the Nairobi Protocol in selected fragile and non-fragile situations; and, 3.Project management. The aim of the project collaboration between AfDB and RECSA is to create a better understanding of the security-development nexus in Africa. The TCB-RECSA project is funded from the Transition Support Facility (TSF) managed by Bank’s Transition Support Department (ORTS).
