During this summit, the Declaration on South America as a Zone of Peace was issued. Moreover, taking into account the ongoing Work Group to prepare a Peace, Security and Cooperation Protocol of the Council of South American Defence (CDS, for its initials in Spanish), UNASUR members reinforced their commitment to strengthen Trust and Security Promotion Measures and their enforcement procedures by means of concrete actions of transparency on military expenditures, especially the registry of defence expenditure and periodic updates.
