Activity description

On 8 March 2019, the Small Arms Survey, in the framework of the UNSCAR-funded project on 'Sharing Knowledge and Good Practice to Effectively Regulate Brokering in Southern Africa', organized an expert-level workshop in Botswana to explore mechanisms to facilitate the exchange of information  to enforce brokering controls and to prevent, combat, and eradicate illicit brokering in Southern Africa.

Project description

The project 'Sharing Knowledge and Good Practice to Effectively Regulate Brokering in Southern Africa' was implemented by the Small Arms Survey with the financial support of UNSCAR. The project aimed to provide tools, share good practice, develop guidance, and explore a regional information-sharing mechanism for the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region so that southern African states are better able to prevent and reduce small arms trafficking made possible by illicit brokering activities.
