Activity description

Senior customs, immigration and border officials from 10 Central African States gathered to take initial steps towards the development of an integrated strategy to counter terrorism and arms trafficking in Central Africa. Participants were briefed on the utility of the International Small Arms Control Standards (ISACS) and on its Module 05.60 in particular, which provides practical guidance on 'Border Controls & Law Enforcement Cooperation' in the context of preventing illicit cross-border movements of arms. The workshop produced an outcome document containing a range of measures and tools that Central African States can use to counter terrorism and illicit arms trafficking which is to be integrated into a strategy for the Central African region.
