Activity description

From March 2020 to September 2021, the Conflict Armament Research is working with the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) to document and trace illicit weapons in Afghanistan. This project will gather critical data on illicit weapons in order to identify new supply lines and help the Government of Afghanistan and international donors design targeted interventions to combat cross-border supply networks and the leakage/diversion of weapons from national stockpiles. The scope of the activities part of the project includes training and capacity building on identification and tracing of weapons with various security forces, as well as technical assistance in support of Afghanistan’s international obligations to counter regional diversion.
