Various experts presented on the then situation regarding the ATT in Asia, synergies and cooperation with the Wassenaar Arrangement (WA), the inherent challenge of balancing transparency and national security, as well as the expectations for the ATT after it enters into force. The event was organised in cooperation with Australia, the European Union, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Project description

The Asian Export Control Seminar was launched in 1993 for officials in charge of export control in Asia and was aimed at stepping up Asian and international efforts on non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs). The seminars are focused on raising common awareness of the importance of non-proliferation and export controls across Asia and consolidating export control capabilities in the region. Since then, the Asian Export Control Seminar has been an annual event organized by the Center for Information on Security Trade Control (CISTEC), a Japanese non-profit, non-governmental organization, bringing together international experts to discuss current issues in export control especially relevant to Asian states and the region more generally.
