CISTEC - The 22nd Asian Export Control Seminar 2015
As part of the Asian Export Control Seminar project, on the 22nd Asian Export Control Seminar participants exchanged views in a number of areas, focusing particularly on [i] new challenges for strategic export controls, [ii] challenges and issues on export control implementation, and [iii] actions toward enhancing non-proliferation activities in the Asian region. The event was organised in cooperation, Australia, Canada, the European Union France, Germany, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
The Asian Export Control Seminar was launched in 1993 for officials in charge of export control in Asia and was aimed at stepping up Asian and international efforts on non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs). The seminars are focused on raising common awareness of the importance of non-proliferation and export controls across Asia and consolidating export control capabilities in the region. Since then, the Asian Export Control Seminar has been an annual event organized by the Center for Information on Security Trade Control (CISTEC), a Japanese non-profit, non-governmental organization, bringing together international experts to discuss current issues in export control especially relevant to Asian states and the region more generally.
