On 26-27 September 2019 ECOWAS, in collaboration with the Bonn International Center for Conversion (BICC), celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the ECOWAS Convention bringing together representatives from 14 of 15 ECOWAS states National Commissions in Niger. The purpose of the meeting was to support the implementation of the ECOWAS Convention throughout the region for the next decade and secondly to define a regional roadmap for SALW controls for ECOWAS partner states.

BICC, with the goal to strengthen the capacities of its regional partners on SALW controls and Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM), launched in 2018 a project to organise regional and national-level training activities in the field. The ultimate goal is to cooperate for the concrete implementation of the ECOWAS Convention, to provide support to RECSA and to support the African Union for the fulfillment of its obligations under the Silencing the Guns Plan of Action.
