ECOWAS Reviews Guidelines to Reduce Proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons in the Region

Activity description

On 4 March 2020 ECOWAS, with the aim to review the guidelines and SOPs on article 19 of the ECOWAS Convention, ECOWAS, in partnership with CAR, organised a workshop in Abuja, Nigeria. The workshop, attended by experts from both the organizations, had the specific purpose of defining clear procedures and concrete methodologies for the identification, documentation and tracing of arms and ammunition with the final goal of implementing Article 19 of the ECOWAS Convention. Furthermore, the documents produced during the two-day workshop were submitted to ECOWAS to be converted into regional law;
