The Seminar on the ATT was jointly organized by the Kenyan Office of the Attorney General, Department of Justice and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) with support from the Norwegian Red Cross and the Regional Center on Small Arms and Light Weapons (RECSA). The seminar afforded an opportunity to various ministries and departments of the Government of Kenya associated with arms, security and defence related issues to take a closer look at the ATT, its importance, its key-provisions and implications for Kenya if it becomes a State Party. At the end of the seminar, all participants voiced their support to Kenya’s accession and, to facilitate that process, they established a small working group to meet within two weeks and make a recommendation to the Government to take steps towards early accession. There were about 35 participants. The seminar took place in Nairobi.
