Implementation of a database on arms transfers in Côte d'Ivoire
From July 2018 to October 2019, the Côte d'Ivoire SALW NatCom (ComNat-ALPC), with funding from the ATT Voluntary Trust Fund (ATT VTF), set up a database to record and keep data on arms transfers in Côte d'Ivoire. ComNat-ALPC acquired necessary equipment (computers, server), designed the database management software, and installed it. Consultations with stakeholders including ministries, security and defense institutions/forces took place with the aim to define a national architecture for a secure electronic database on arms transfers. 15 officers from the Ministry of State, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Security and Civil Protection, the National Security Council, the Direction Generale de la Police Nationale, du Commandement superieur de la Gendarmerie, and the Customs Office were trained in the use of the database.
The project 'Establishment of an Arms Transfer Database - Data Retention' was implemented by the Côte d'Ivoire SALW NatCom (ComNat-ALPC) with funding from the ATT Voluntary Trust Fund (VTF).
