Implementation Sanctions: Prospects and Arms Embargoes for African Countries

Activity description

In collaboration with the United Nations Panel of Experts on Iran, established pursuant to UN Security Council Resolution 1929 (the Panel), the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) convened a workshop in Lomé, Togo on 15-16 May to discuss the challenges of implementing UN sanctions and share lessons learned and best practices for compliance. The workshop also presented international disarmament instruments that can be useful for compliance with sanction measures. The UN Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Africa (UNREC) offered administrative and technical support.
