Activity description

The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping and Training Centre (KAIPTC) project on ‘Promoting Dialogue and Strengthening Operational Level Competence for Security Sector Practitioners in the Sahel Region’ focuses on five selected countries; Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Nigeria and Senegal. KAIPTC's 'Sahel Project' implemented through the Regional SALW Training Programme was conceived in 2012 and builds on the on-going collaboration between the Government of Japan, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Commission of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) and the KAIPTC. Between July and October 2013 five courses, resulting in ten separate training sessions, were organized focusing on topics such as ‘SALW Proliferation in the Sahel’ and ‘Border Security Management’.
