Activity description

The workshop was part of the Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM) in Sahel Project, implemented by UNREC, and was held in collaboration with the authorities of Chad. The event gathered representatives of national defence, law enforcement and other civilian authorities concerned with SALW security, members of the parliament and the judiciary, as well as civil society, with the aim of reviewing the current legislative and administrative framework concerning PSSM of government-held weapons and ammunition and identifying recommendations to harmonize them with international instruments and standards in this field. As part of the workshop, stakeholders also initiated discussions on the identification of storage sites which will serve as pilot sites for the project’s upcoming rehabilitation activities.
