The purpose of this assistance activity by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) was to carry out a series of meetings with Dominican Republic representatives of the Interior Ministry, the Defence Ministry, the National Police, the Customs Agency and the Justice Ministry to bolster the institutional capacities to prevent and combat firearms diversion and illicit trafficking. The ATF shared best practices on marking, registering and tracing and provided technical training.
