Workshop on Responses to Insecurity linked to Boko Haram and its Consequences

Activity description

Organized by UNOWA the meeting analyzed the current security, humanitarian, socio-economic and human rights situation in the Lake Chad Basin in the context of recent actions of Boko Haram. Discussions included the need to address issues regarding the origin of weapons used by the group and the capacity of Government troops on the ground to identify and trace weapons. Other objectives included exchanging strategies on the fight against terrorism, the need of regional efforts and preparing the ground for higher-level meetings among ECOWAS and Lake Chad Basin Commission States. The workshop was held in Dakar, Senegal.
