As part of the project ‘Parliamentary Campaign to Promote Ratification & Implementation of the ATT in Lusophone States and the MENA region’, Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) organized a two-day workshop on 5-6 December in Amman, Jordan. The event provided an opportunity for parliamentarians and government officials from states in the MENA region, as well as representatives from local and regional NGOs, to discuss and review the ATT in the context of the MENA-community and to identify steps that could be taken for the treaty to be ratified in their respective countries. The participants considered the need for more effective arms trade controls in the region and the gender dimension of the measures included in the ATT. The participants adopted a Plan of Action to facilitate the follow-up actions by the participating parliamentarians and legislators.
