The Commission of the African Union (AU) convened a Senior Government Officials Meeting, at the AU Headquarters to discuss issues relating to the ATT. The meeting was held to assist AU Member States in making informed decisions regarding the ratification and implementation of the ATT. The meeting also aimed to encourage and facilitate active participation of AU Member States that are Parties or Signatories to the ATT in the First Conference of States parties to the ATT. The meeting provided the opportunity for States to exchange experiences and discuss the objectives and provisions of the ATT, issues related to human rights, and synergies and complementarities between the existing regional and international instruments.The meeting was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Participants included the Secretariat working group (France); the Financing working group (Ghana, as co-facilitator); and the Reporting working group (Sweden). Mexico is also the facilitator of the Rules of Procedures working group.
