Validation workshop of Ghana’s gap analysis of the legal status quo of existing legislation as well as other relevant documents and frameworks involving all relevant parties

On 21-24 November 2021, as part of the joint AU-BICC project and with funding from Germany, the African Union and BICC continued to support the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons of Ghana in harmonising its national legislation with the ATT and the ECOWAS Convention. Specifically, on these dates the African Union and BICC validated the gap analysis of Ghana’s current legislative regime vis-a-vis the country’s obligations under various international, regional and sub-regional Instruments.

The AU-BICC project on Arms Control in Africa is implemented by the African Union Commission in cooperation with BICC and with funding from Germany. The project started in April 2021 and aims at continuing providing support to the African union its Regional Economic Communities, Regional Bodies and Member States to coordinate and implement arms control measures on a strategical, technical and policy level.
