African Union - BICC workshop on ‘Aligning National Arms Regulations with International Standards’ in Ghana

Activity description

On 20-24 September 2021, as part of the joint AU-BICC project and with funding from Germany, the African Union and BICC organized a workshop  to support the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons of Ghana in harmonising national legislation with the ATT and the ECOWAS Convention. This activity will, as a first step, produce a gap analysis of Ghana’s current legislative regime vis-à-vis  Ghana’s obligations under various international, regional and sub-regional Instruments.

Project description

The AU-BICC project on Arms Control in Africa is implemented by the African Union Commission in cooperation with BICC and with funding from Germany. The project started in April 2021 and aims at continuing providing support to the African union its Regional Economic Communities, Regional Bodies and Member States to coordinate and implement arms control measures on a strategical, technical and policy level.
