Activity description

Action on Armed Violence (AOAV) has been working with Liberia to build the capacity of local institutions, including the army, police, and small arms and light weapons commission, to better address the problem of armed violence. In 2013-2014, AOAV worked with the Liberian National Commission on Small Arms (LiNCSA) to develop a draft National Firearms Control Act, to be presented to parliament in 2014. At the end of 2013, AOAV also completed its Border Area pilot project which aimed at re-establishing and building the capacity of community watch groups to provide security in underserved border communities.
