Activity description

The Experts Meeting on the ECOWAS Counter-Terrorist Strategy Project was intended to promote cooperation and partnership between ECOWAS and international institutions in the prevention of and fight against terrorism. The discussions focused on the international and regional perspectives, with suitable recommendations made to enhance the ECOWAS counter-terrorist strategy and its plan of implementation. The meeting was attended by 40 experts from local, regional, continental and international institutions, as well as representatives of partner countries. The consultative meeting was the first of the five review steps the ECOWAS Counter-Terrorism Strategy will undergo before its final adoption. Remaining steps included the review by civil society, the consideration by governmental experts, the adoption by ministers, and the final validation by heads of States.
