RECSA training and installation of SALW tracing software in CAR

Activity description

On 17-18 September 2020, the Regional Centre for Small Arms (RECSA) in partnership with the National Commission on Small Arms of the Central African Republic organised a two-day training on the use and installation of its software for small arms and light weapons (SALW) tracing in Bangui, Central African Republic. Participants represented CAR law enforcement agencies and the military. The training was conducted in the framework of Africa Amnesty Month activities, with funding from Japan through the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs.

Project description

The September Africa Amnesty Month campaign is being carried out in collaboration with the African Union and the United Nations office for disarmament (UNODA) with funding from the Federal Republic of Germany and the Government of Japan. The September Africa Amnesty month was declared in 2017 by the African Union within the framework of silencing the guns by 2020 initiative and adopted by African member states.
