UNLIREC and the government of Guatemala organized a workshop on the elaboration of national control list according to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) obligations
From 17 - 18 September 2018, UNLIREC and the Ministry of Guatemala, with funding from the ATT Voluntary Trust Fund (VTF), organized a workshop on the elaboration of a national control list according to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) obligations in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The activity sought to increase the knowledge of participants on the concept of a national control list. Participants also learned about conventional arms categories, munitions and parts or components within the ATT national control list framework. 20 representatives from state entities were present, this included the General Directorate on Arms and Ammunitions, the National Civil Police, the Tax Agency, the Private Security Directorate, the Inteligence Directorate, Army Corp of Engineers, the Army Ammunition Factory, the Military Industry, Guatemalan Air Force, Navy, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The workshop was the second last of the project activities funded by the Arms Trade Treaty Voluntary Trust Fund, of which Guatemala is a beneficiary state and in which UNLIREC, at the request of the Guatemalan authorities, is an implementing partner.
