Descripción de la actividad

From 5 to 8 April 2022, the Government of the Central African Republic, via its designated national lead entity, the National Commission for the Fight Against the Proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons (COMNAT-ALPC), in cooperation with the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), with organisational support from MINUSCA, implemented a four-day national WAM baseline follow-up assessment in Bangui, CAR. Building on the first national WAM baseline assessment conducted in 2017, this follow-up assessment provided technical expertise to the Government to review and assess its current WAM institutional and operational capacities, policies, and practices, in line with international and sub-/regional obligations, commitments and standards. The assessment brought together over forty high-level national participants and technical experts, as well as international and sub-/regional stakeholders and partners supporting WAM in CAR to engage in consultative meetings and discussions at the strategic and operational levels. The assessment findings are expected to support the Government of CAR in reviewing its national strategies, action plans and procedures, as well as reporting under relevant international instruments and updating its national roadmap towards a comprehensive national WAM framework.
