Activity description

From 12 November 2019 to 22 November 2019 in Nigeria, ECOWAS, in collaboration with the Multinational Small Arms and Ammunition Group (MSAG) and BICC, organised its third multi-phase training on PSSM activities for the region. The training, which saw the attendance of 20 participants selected from military and police forces of ECOWAS states, aimed to strengthen participants' theoretical and technical knowledge of PSSM. The training, which aimed to create a regional group of PSSM trainers, focused on the application of international guidelines on the field under the supervision of MSAG.

Project description

BICC, with the goal to strengthen the capacities of its regional partners on SALW controls and Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM), launched in 2018 a project to organise regional and national-level training activities in the field. The ultimate goal is to cooperate for the concrete implementation of the ECOWAS Convention and to support the African Union for the fullfilment of its obligations under the Silencing the Guns Plan of Action. The project will be running until December 2020
