CELAC holds First Heads of State and Government Summit in Chile

Activity description

The purpose of this first Heads of State and Government Summit, held in Chile, was to advance in the unity and political, economic, social and cultural integration of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). In this meeting, the Declaration of Santiago was issued jointly by all States noting LAC's compromise to fully implement the UN PoA on SALW, expressing support for the adoption of a legally binding Arms Trade Treaty and highlighting the importance of the elimination of antipersonnel mines as agreed upon by State Parties to the Ottawa Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.
