ECOWAS-BICC Regional training on physical security and stockpile management (PSSM) in Nigeria
On 20-24 May 2019 ECOWAS, in collaboration with the Multinational Small Arms and Ammunition Group (MSAG) and BICC, conducted the second regional training on PSSM activities for the region in Nigeria. The activity, which mainly focused on storage techniques, risk assessments and Physical Security of sites, saw the attendance of 22 participants from Military and Police forces from 14 of 15 ECOWAS states. The course meant to provide the participants with technical knowledge of the weapons together with the practical expertise to organise their storage and security
BICC, with the goal to strengthen the capacities of its regional partners on SALW controls and Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM), launched in 2018 a project to organise regional and national-level training activities in the field. The ultimate goal is to cooperate for the concrete implementation of the ECOWAS Convention and to support the African Union for the fulfillment of its obligations under the Silencing the Guns Plan of Action. The project will be running until December 2020
