As part of the EUP2P ATT project, the German Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) held this second national seminar with the main objective of raising awareness of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) among law enforcement agencies and support them in their risk analysis and identification of arms, ammunitions and parts and components. The overall purpose of this workshop was to carry out the second road map activity for Colombia and offer a platform to exchange implementation experiences. Five international experts from Germany, Spain and UNLIREC supported the event in which several Colombian authorities involved in arms Transfer controls participated, including among others INDUMIL, the Office of the Attorney General of Colombia, the National Taxes and Customs Direction (DIAN) and the Department for the Commercial Control of Arms, Munition and Explosives (DCCA). The first day of the meeting explored the scope of the Treaty in the area of risk assessment for customs and police officers. The second day featured in depth presentations on the scope of the ATT with regards to the items covered. In addition to useful exercises on UNROCA definitions, their benefits and potential gaps and the identification and classification of ammunition. UNLIREC facilitated exercises and gave presentations on “Export Assessment” and “Arms Identification”.
