Activity description

The objective of the training was to present the participants the manual of procedures as validated on 3 March 2014. The training included participants from the National Police, Gendermerie, Republican Forces, as well as customs, water and forestry offices.

Project description

At the request of the National Commission (NatCom) on Small Arms in Cote d’Ivoire, UNREC initiated a project entitled 'Strengthening SALW Control in Côte d'Ivoire'. The project aims to: 1) evaluate and rehabilitate select police security stations; 2) equip select rehabilitated sites for stockpile management; 3) complete an examination of the number of arms held by private security companies in the country; 4) train defense and security forces operating along the border; and, 5) develop a guide on best practice standards in stockpile management for the NatCom.
